Nurturing courageous future leadership
Learning Opportunities
Cultivating prosperity is the aim of the Prosperity Institute. To develop flourishing families and nations, we research and advocate for effective institutions.
At the same time, institutions and laws are meaningless without committed public servants exercising creativity, judgement, and leadership in the public square.
We offer internships and early-career fellowships for aspiring, character-driven public leaders.
Writing about political institutions, Edmund Burke said that the character of individuals within them is “of ten thousand times greater consequence than all the formalities in the world” and that “no name, no power, no function, no artificial institution whatsoever, can make the men, of whom any system of authority is composed, any other than God, and Nature, and education, and their habits of life have made them.”

The Edington
Fellowship
The Edington Fellowship is our early-career, year-long formative programme for aspiring public servants in a wide range of fields: journalism, law, government, diplomacy, politics, advocacy and beyond. It is an opportunity for rising leaders, early in their careers, to deepen understanding, develop skills, and cultivate character in a community of like-minded peers.
Fellowship programme
Why Edington?
Our Edington Fellowship programme is named after the Battle of Edington when, against all odds, King Alfred the Great mustered an army to defend his territory, people, and national ideals against Viking invaders, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.
The battle was a turning point: Alfred then established common law, a culture of literacy, and fortified towns which enabled commerce. National prosperity was thereby built on a foundation of Judeo-Christian values
Edington Fellowship
The Edington Fellowship offers places for exceptional individuals to participate in a year-long programme of personal and professional development for careers in public service.
The programme will encourage, equip, and connect early career professionals with a vocational commitment to serving in the public square. Please download our information pack for more information and details on how to apply.
The Fortescue
Fellowship
The Fortescue Fellowship is our mid-career programme enabling people to prepare for roles in government as legislators, advisors and executive leaders. Fellows learn about the workings of government in a community of like-minded peers.

Why Fortescue?
Sir John Fortescue (1394 – 1479) was one of our greatest jurists. He was an MP and wrote classic works on the English constitution which were designed to prepare leaders for high office. In them, he underscored the importance of limited, accountable government.
Fortescue Fellowship
The Fortescue Fellowship prepares future leaders to take on senior positions of responsibility in government. It runs for 10 weeks several times each year. The first cohort starts in October 2026 and applications are now open.
