For the second year running, Prosperity Institute hosted the London leg of the Free Market Roadshow on 15th May 2025. Featuring speeches from Members of Parliament, economists and journalists, this year’s event covered the challenges facing free markets in Britain, how Britain can return to growth, and – most importantly – how advocates of free markets can win young people to the cause of economic liberty.
Our Managing Director, Dr Radomir Tylecote, spoke of the perilous situation facing economic liberty in Britain today and how it can be rescued with reference to Britain’s centuries-old trading tradition. Free Market Roadshow founder Dr Barbara Kolm – now serving for the Freedom Party in the Austrian National Council – raised the alarm about the anti-democratic spread of central bank digital currencies in Europe.
At a panel discussion led by PI’s Director of Strategy Fred de Fossard, Jack Rankin, Conservative MP for Windsor, spoke about how the British political class is failing to serve the public and generate the prosperity the country needs, while the Daily Telegraph’s Poppy Coburn said that without fixing immigration or housing, we will not see the young support free markets again. To close, our headline speaker, former-Cato and Heritage Foundation economist, Dr Dan Mitchell spoke about the looming debt crises facing Britain and America and alluded to Switzerland as a potential answer to our spendthrift ways.
We hope to welcome the Austrian Economics Center to the FMRS in London in 2026 and many years beyond.
