Amarjeet Johal

Director of Legislative Affairs

Amarjeet leads the Institute’s legislative reform work.

Amar trained as a solicitor in private practice and previously practiced competition and antitrust law at two city law firms, including representing companies in proceedings before the European Commission. He has also spent five years working as a UK Government lawyer, including at the FCA and HM Treasury. 

Amar has published papers on financial services reform and the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland to the UK-EU Withdrawal Agreement (also known as the Windsor Framework). Amar has an MA in History from the University of Cambridge and an MA in EU Competition Law from King’s College London. In his spare time, he’s a British Army reservist and a charity trustee.
